I found using wool setting worked best for me when repairing Gortex jacket where old taped seams had come off over time. If repairing old seams, remember there may be old glue residue from previous tape. Use a barrier such as paper to be sure not to get it stuck to your iron. Tape is flexible, so for curved seams I did a few centimetres, then adjust angle of take a little and repeated until I had completed line. It also allows you to overlap the tape where seams join. I hope I have revived and old but leaky old Gortex jacket where the seams were shot. It certainly looks better than before inside.
