Dissect-It Science Kits Review From Top Secret Toys Editor's Rating ★★★★★ Rated 4.5 out of 5 Age Recommendation 6 Share! Editor's Review Get ready to discover and dissect with Dissect-It STEM kits. Available in a variety of sizes and themes, these let kids explore the world of animal physiology using safe plastic instruments, no unpleasant smell, transparent and biodegradable body gel, and an educational guide. At the smallest size, you’ve got kits such as the Synthetic Ancient Amber Lab, Synthetic Owl Pellet Lab, Synthetic Pearl Shucking Lab, and Synthetic Butterfly Metamorphosis Lab. Each of these, for ages 5 and up, is sold separately and comes with a fold-up dissection tray, a two-in-one plastic scalpel and tweezer tool, and a learning guide. With each theme, there are different items you can reveal. For instance, one of three skeletons or one of four butterflies. So kids won’t know what they’re dissecting until they open it up. Slightly larger kits include Dinosaur Dig and Bigfoot Dig, for ages 6 and up. With the Dinosaur Dig, kids can uncover one of three complete skeletons. The Bigfoot Dig lets kids uncover a complete Bigfoot skeleton. In each, you get a work table and set of excavation tools, plus a bone identification mat and excavation guide. Essentially, kids are digging through the compound for the bones, and then assembling the bones according to the guide. The largest sets include Super Lab, which is about frogs, and Rattlesnake Super Lab. With both of these, for ages 6 and up, you get safe surgical instruments and a dissection table, plus a full-color instruction manual. The frog kit is all about learning about the parts of a frog without having to dissect a real frog. And once you dissect the rattlesnake skeleton with working rattle, you can open the stomach to discover one of three mystery skeletons of your snake’s last meal. These larger sets also come with refill mixes so that kids can do the dissection more than once. Price Check $14 Should I get it?
